Despite speculation, there are no clear indications from the bank regarding potential future rate cuts. This approach aligns with a cautious strategy, which has seen rates remain at 5% since July, following a significant tightening of monetary policy.
The European Commission imposed a substantial €1.8 billion ($1.95 billion) fine on Apple earlier this week after uncovering evidence that the tech giant leveraged its dominance to stifle competition in the music streaming sector. European authorities concluded that Apple’s actions over a decade hindered music streaming services, such as Spotify, from informing iPhone users about cheaper subscription options outside of Apple’s App Store, resulting in inflated prices. Ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas have reached a critical juncture, with Vice President Kamala Harris urging for an immediate cessation of hostilities due to the profound suffering experienced by Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
